The present application proposes a medical body area network (MBAN) channel management scheme to provide prioritized quality of service (QoS) support to MBANs based on patient acuity level while maintaining MBAN spectrum usage efficiency. In that regard, the MBAN channel management scheme regulates MBAN channel access so that MBANs for higher acuity patients have better access to MBAN channels than lower acuity patients and thus improved QoS support.
