The video decoder 310 may decode an image received from an external device or stored in the image display apparatus 300. For example, the video decoder 310 may decode a general image or a 360° image. The general image indicates an image other than a 360° image. The decoded general image may be represented by a YUV color space. In addition, the decoded 360° image may be a planar-format 360° image 410 as shown in an upper part of FIG. 5 and may be represented by a YUV color space, according to an exemplary embodiment.
The general image decoded by the video decoder 310 may not be input to the GPU 320 but may be stored in the video buffer 340. However, although FIG. 4 shows that a video buffer in which a general image is stored is the same as a video buffer in which a graphics-processed 360° image is stored, exemplary embodiments are not limited thereto and this is provided by way of an example only. According to an exemplary embodiment, the video buffer in which a general image is stored and the video buffer in which a graphics-processed 360° image is stored may be configured separately. The general image stored in the video buffer 340 may be image-quality-processed and is then displayed on the display 360. However, the decoded 360° image is input to the GPU 320.
