First, a sample 10S is prepared in a similar manner to the method of measuring the dimensional change amount Δw, and after setting the sample 10S in a measuring device which is similar to that in the method of measuring the dimensional change amount Δw, the measuring device is housed in a chamber controlled to a constant environment at a temperature of 29° C. and a relative humidity of 24%. Next, a load of 0.2 N is applied in the longitudinal direction of the sample 10S, and the sample is adapted to the environment mentioned above. Thereafter, with the temperature of 29° C. maintained, the relative humidity is changed in the order of 80%, 24%, and 10%, the width of the sample 10S is measured at 80% and 10%, and the humidity expansion coefficient β is determined from the following formula.
