The control module 201 may control the display region of the display screen to display the predetermined picture. The predetermined picture is an image or a partial image preset in the electronic device. Color of any two points in the predetermined picture is the same. That is, the predetermined picture is a pure color picture, and color of all parts of the predetermined picture is the same. When the preset region of the display screen of the electronic device displays the predetermined picture, the ambient light sensor may detect a current ambient light intensity value. The obtaining module 202 obtains the ambient light intensity value detected by the ambient light sensor.
