Multiple display infotainment systems in vehicles provide various options for drivers and passengers to interact with elements on the multiple displays. Techniques include accessing historical driver information that includes previous or typical driver preferences and actions while operating the vehicle. Driving context information and driver state information are received describing the conditions in and around the vehicle. When a signal indicates that an interactive element should be presented to the driver or a passenger, an adaptive rule-based system uses the contextual information and previous history to determine a score for each interaction element. The score and they type of interaction required by the element are then used to determine a location on the multiple displays for presenting the interactive element.

Implementations may include one or more of the following features. Optionally receiving interaction type data associated with the interactive element and determining the threshold value based on the interaction type data. Optionally, the location on the first display or the second display being further based on the interaction type data. Optionally, the adaptive rule-based system includes an adaptive learning system and an adaptive neuro fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). Optionally, the adaptive learning system includes a set of interaction rules, a base set of rules, defining locations for interactive elements based on a likelihood of interaction by the driver with the interactive elements. Optionally, the location includes setting the location of the interactive element to the first display based on accessibility of driver interaction with the display system based on a determination that the score for the interactive element exceeds a predetermined threshold value. Optionally, generating a signal to present the interactive element on the display system based on the location. Optionally, the driving context information includes at least one of trip data, trip status information, traffic data, weather data, or route data. Optionally, the driver state information includes data corresponding to a driving style of the driver. Optionally, the driver state information includes data received from a mobile device associated with the driver. Optionally, the data received from the mobile device includes at least one of appointment information or phone call information. Implementations of the described techniques may include hardware, a method or process, or computer software on a computer-accessible medium.
