The connected car operating system 148 can control the operation of at least a portion of the connected car 106. In some embodiments, the connected car operating system 148 includes the functionality of the connected car firmware 144 and/or the connected car software application(s) 150. The connected car operating system 148 can be executed by the connected car processor 140 to cause the connected car 106 to perform various operations. The connected car operating system 148 can include a member of the SYMBIAN OS family of operating systems from SYMBIAN LIMITED, a member of the WINDOWS OS, WINDOWS MOBILE OS and/or WINDOWS PHONE OS families of operating systems from MICROSOFT CORPORATION, a member of the PALM WEBOS family of operating systems from HEWLETT PACKARD CORPORATION, a member of the BLACKBERRY OS family of operating systems from RESEARCH IN MOTION LIMITED, a member of the IOS family of operating systems or a member of the OS X family of operating systems from APPLE INC., a member of the ANDROID OS family of operating systems from GOOGLE INC., and/or other operating systems.
