A fire detection system may include isolation circuit having an isolation switch coupled with a system line of the fire detection system and configured to isolate a first side of the system line from a second side of the system line. The isolation circuit may also include a controller coupled with the isolation switch. The controller may be configured to detect repetitive, intermittent short circuit activity on the system line and control the isolation switch based on this activity.

As described herein, the controller 212 may receive: the current monitor output 254; the current alert comparator output 256; the voltage monitor outputs 260a, 260b; and the voltage alert comparator outputs 262, 263. In an example, the current monitor output signal 254 and the voltage monitor output signals 260a, 260b may connect to analog to digital converter (ADC) inputs of the controller 212. For example, the voltage monitor output signal 260a may connect to an ADC input 231a, and the voltage monitor output signal 260b may connect to an ADC input 231b. The current alert comparator output signal 256 and the voltage alert comparator output signals 262, 263 may connect to alert, wake-up or interrupt inputs of the controller 212.
