Turning now to FIG. 6, a top down view of yet another example embodiment of a rack for cooling computing devices according to the teachings of the present disclosure is shown. In this embodiment, computing devices 220 are positioned to intake cool air from outside the vertical annular cylinder 300 and exhaust hot air at a horizontal angle 710 relative to the centerline 350 of the vertical annular cylinder 300, as shown by arrow 720. In this embodiment, three computing devices 220 are positioned on each shelf 230 shown of each rack 210. Two facilitate exhausting air at an angle, computing devices 220 may be mounted or positioned at an angle on shelves 230.
Turning now to FIG. 7, a a perspective view of still another example embodiment of a rack for cooling computing devices according to the teachings of the present disclosure is shown. In this embodiment, computing devices 220 are positioned to intake cool air from inside the vertical annular cylinder 300 as shown by arrow 600 and exhaust air out of the vertical annular cylinder 300 at a horizontal angle relative to the centerline 350 of the vertical annular cylinder 300, as shown by arrows 610. While air barriers 296 Are shown at the inside of vertical annular cylinder 300, other positions are possible and contemplated (e.g., at the outside of vertical annular cylinder 300).
