When a component is referred to as being “l(fā)inked” or “connected” to other component, it should be understood that it may be directly linked or connected to other component, but other component may exist in the middle. On the other hand, when a component is referred to as being “directly linked” or “directly connected” to other component, it should be understood that other component does not exist in the middle.
