FIG. 3 shows a flow diagram of an example method 300 for restricting content. At step 302, a request to access content (e.g., a content stream, a content channel) may be received. The request may be received by a user device (e.g., or by an intermediary device, such as a gateway device). The request may be received from a user of the user device. The user device may comprise a gateway, a set top box, a digital streaming device, a mobile device, a smart device (e.g., a smart watch, smart apparel, smart glasses, a smart phone, a smart appliance), a tablet, a computing station, a home security system, an onboard media system, and/or the like.

At step 304, a blackout condition (e.g., restriction condition, access condition) associated with blocking access to the content may be determined. The blackout condition may be determined by the user device (e.g., or by the intermediary device). The blackout condition may comprise a condition for restricting (e.g., preventing, and/or blocking) access to the content. The blackout condition may comprise one or more of location information, timing information, user information, device information, and/or the like for blocking the content. The location information may indicate a location (e.g., a region, a state, a country, an area code, a zip code, a time zone) to restrict access to the content. The timing information may indicate a start time, an end time, a duration, and/or the like for restricting access to the content. The device information may indicate types of devices to restrict access to the content. The user information may indicate types of users (e.g., age groups, subscription tiers) to restrict access to the content.
