FIG. 4 shows a flow diagram of an example method 400 for restricting content. At step 402, a request to access content (e.g., a content stream, a content channel, a content file) may be received. The request may be received by a user device (e.g., or by an intermediary device, such as a gateway device). The request may be received from a user of the user device. The user device may comprise a gateway, a set top box, a digital streaming device, a mobile device, a smart device (e.g., a smart watch, smart apparel, smart glasses, a smart phone, a smart appliance), a tablet, a computing station, a home security system, an onboard media system, and/or the like. A restriction information server may be determined. The restriction information server may be configured to restore restriction information associated with the content. A connection may be established with restriction information server. For example, the user device may send data associated with establishing a connection with the restriction information server. The connection may comprise a persistent connection as described herein.
