At step 504, a request for content associated with a first content channel may be received. The request may be received by the user device (e.g., or by the intermediary device). The request may be received from a user of the user device. The request may comprise a request to access a content channel (e.g., or content source). The content channel may comprise the content (e.g., within a live content stream)
At step 506, a first blackout information server of the plurality of blackout information servers that is assigned to the first content channel may be determined. The first blackout information server may be determined by the user device (e.g., or by the intermediary device). The first blackout information server may be determined based on an association of the first blackout information server with the content (e.g., or a content channel, content source). As an example, the user device may comprise a list of the plurality of blackout information servers. The list may associate the plurality of blackout information servers with the corresponding content and/or content channel. As an example, the plurality of blackout information servers may be identified in metadata associated with corresponding content channels. An electronic program guide may be queried to determine which blackout information server is associated with a channel and/or content requested by a user.
