In some embodiments, to utilize the scanner, the at least one processor may suspend an operation of the scanner after the scan of the block storage volume. Suspending, as used herein, may refer to an operation of pausing, stopping, ceasing, freezing, halting, hanging, terminating, killing, or any manner or temporarily or permanently setting aside an ongoing process or computer program. By way of example, after the scanner completes scanning the block storage volume, the at least one processor may detect the completion by an active manner (e.g., by periodically polling the secondary system for a status of the scanning) or a passive manner (e.g., by receiving a message from the secondary system indicating the completion of the scanning). The at least one process may then send data to the secondary system, the data including a signal or computer-executable codes for suspending the operation of the scanner. After receiving the data, the secondary system may suspend the scanner and release the computing resources previously allocated to the scanner.
