In some embodiments, the semantic-less wireless repeater may identify and authenticate transmissions. After authenticating the transmission, PHY layer metrics, such as error magnitude from IQ sample(s), are used to decide whether or not a retransmission is appropriate and necessary. Upon deciding that a retransmission will occur, some embodiments may launder the signal to remove any jamming and/or interference that may have been introduced during the transmission.
The RF repeater may also include one or more antennas. The antennas may comprise one or more directional or omnidirectional antennas, including, for example, dipole antennas, monopole antennas, patch antennas, loop antennas, microstrip antennas or other types of antennas suitable for transmission of RF signals. In some multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) embodiments, the antennas may be effectively separated to take advantage of spatial diversity and the different channel characteristics that may result.
