Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform intra-UE co-existence between non-stand-alone (NSA) and stand-alone (SA) mode. The UE may be configured to connect to a first radio access network (RAN) operating according to a first radio access technology (RAT) via a first radio and connect to a second RAN operating according to a second RAT via a second radio. The UE may provide, to the first RAN, configuration information during a radio resource control (RRC) connection procedure. The configuration information may indicate a dual connectivity status of the UE. The dual connectivity status may include indication disabling (enabling) dual connectivity for the UE, working frequencies associated with the second RAN, and/or configurations associated with the second RAN. The UE may receive, from the first RAN, a dual connectivity configuration that may be based on the dual connectivity status of the UE and operate accordingly.

Further, as illustrated by FIGS. 11A-D, a wireless device, such as UE 940, may include an architecture that allows connection to LTE, 5G NR, and/or a combination of LTE and 5G NR (e.g., stand-alone mode for 5G NR). For example, FIG. 11A illustrates UE 940 connected to EPC 902 in an LTE only connection mode. As shown, LTE modem 944 may be connected (e.g., connection 932), via a user plane and control plane, to EPC 902 via connection 1112 with eNB 904 and connection 1110 between eNB 904 and EPC 902. Similarly, as illustrated by FIG. 11B, UE 940 may be connected to 5G core 1004 in a 5G NR only connection mode. As shown, 5G NR modem 946 may be connected (e.g., connection 1134), via a user plane and control plane, to 5G core 1004 via connection 1132 with gNB 906 and connection 1130 between gNB 906 and 5G core 1004. Further, as illustrated by FIG. 11C, UE 940 may be connected to both EPC 902 and 5G core 1004. As shown, LTE modem 944 may be connected (e.g., connection 932), via a user plane and control plane, to EPC 902 via connection 1112 with eNB 904 and connection 1110 between eNB 904 and EPC 902. Additionally, 5G NR modem 946 may be connected (e.g., connection 1134), via a user plane and control plane, to 5G core 1004 via connection 1132 with gNB 906 and connection 1130 between gNB 906 and 5G core 1004.
